exactly. i used the term "back to the farm" as a catchall for those dogs unaccounted for. i realize that some actually do go back to the farm for adoptoin, such as loca and zeus, but that wasn't what i meant. to me, it is not a phrase to be taken literally.

The GRA estimates that 4,500 dogs go "back to the farms" every year for breeding or as pets. IMO, it is a pretty big stretch to think that all of those dogs have either been adopted out or still at the farm.

SOUTHLAND PARK is a no kill track , appearantly some people here have never been in a racing kennel and seen greys that were too mean to be adopted, or the returns that could not be housebroke , would you take one of these greys to your home. Dan

Dan Yes, Southland Park is a great track. I heard lots of great things about it. I agree, not all greys can be adopted just like anyother breed.

i don't think anybody would argue that, but who decides the criteria for those that aren't adopted?

Dan Yes, I would. So Dan, since you're in the know, why don't you tell us what happens to these dogs? Jay

Why are you are concerned what happens, your not in the industry, you are not the greys owners, so what rights do you have to tell them what to do with their dogs. If you are so concerned with the greys, why don't you do something to stop all these so called killings back at the farms.

When the day comes that you or anyone else in the 'Industry" can account for all of the dogs then these questions will stop.

Can I just say also Dan I would gladly take a difficult, even agressive dog into my home and try to help it out. It isn't the dog's fault, it's the owners who made it that way. That dog could have been a wonderfull pet, but instead it was bought up unsocialised and is therefore classed as 'unadoptable'. When it's not the dog that's 'unadoptable' it's the owners who aren't worthy of having a dog

Yes, it's the same old blah blah blah. You are not the dogs owner. I say again you have no right to tell them what to do. If you owned the dog, you could do what you want with it, adoption, keep, breed.

But if you saw someone in the street physically abusing their dog you would think it was wrong, yes? what right do you have to do that? every right because it's your opinion, you're entitled to it, your're not going over and stopping them...though maybe you should do. People can have their own opinions on how dogs should be kept, you obivously have yours and you can't believe in them that much or you wouldn't be so deffensive when people question them

Grow some and come back. Until then :'(

They cover it up! Dog gets hurt and to the back of the kennel it goes where they hope no one finds out. We learned about two cases in the last year, I wonder how many died and went out in the trash.
