PAT C VEIN VICTORIOUS IN PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB $50,000 JAMES W. PAUL 3/8THS MILE DERBY
West Palm Beach, Fl. - “Your so vein, you probably think this race is about you.” And it was. Pat Collin’s Kennel’s Pat C Vein stormed out of the starting box and never looked back as she won Saturday night’s running of Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby.
The newly crowned middle-distance champ covered the 660-yard 3/8ths Mile Course in a blazing 37.69 seconds, the fastest middle-distance time of the season, and won by four lengths. Going off as the bettors second choice, she returned $6.60 to her backers.
The race favorite Law’s Digger, Me Too and Cody Ripley finished second, third and fourth, respectively.
Pat C Vein collected $25,000 for her Derby victory and joins Cahill & O’Connor Kennel’s $25,000 He’s My Man Classic champ Ozzie The Man as the only two greyhounds eligible for the $20,000 “Big 3" bonus if either can win next month’s $25,000 St. Patrick’s Invitational.
The victory was the Collins Kennel’s fourth Derby crown since the infamous Pat C Rendezvous won the title in 1994.
