Does anyone know if there are any breeding farms in the Louisville, KY area? A friend of mine asked and I don't know or have any way of finding out. He wants to visit one to see what they are like. Sheila

I'm sorry, I can't help you. I would like to find one here in Iowa, as well.

The problem you'll have is getting an invitation to visit. Have you contacted a regional adoption group? Perhaps a GPA or PR group that has a farm they work with would be willing to give a tour. GPA Louisville has done farm tours. www.gpalouisville.org/PhotoAlbum2.htm

Sheila Most of them are west of the Mississippi. They all look about the same. The whelping house has dog doors with smallish outside runs. Inside is a fenced area for each run with a whelping box. At four months or so the pups are moved into big outside runs and race the next liters pups by the fence. They have a big doghouse for shelter. They are separated by sex and the mother leaves at about six months. You don't want to enter one of these runs without leather welding pants on. The little hellions will tear your clothes off. They don't call them land sharks for nothing. Paul Lepkowski PWP bprt, MPWA

Ever hear of a state called Florida the greyhound capital of the US? Tell that to all the people down there trying their best to work with low income farmers to get their dogs off the farms. I have one here of my own that came from one of those farms. I know what a breeding farm looks like, I have one here in NJ about 15 minutes from me, my friend is in Louisville that is why I was asking. Sheila

Most of the farms in Florida are training farms. Breeding farms need a lot of land for those big runs. A lot of them are out around Abilene.
Where the heck is there a breeding farm in NJ? I'd like to visit that. I live up the Hudson valley near Poughkeepsie.
