I am always amazed how difficult it can be to foster, but how they always find their place into your home and heart.

They sure do remain in your heart forever. Isn't that awesome!
Fostering dogs saves lives. Remember: When one leaves and you are able to take in another, you've just saved ANOTHER life. I've fostered 16 dogs in the last 18 months and my only complaint is that I couldn't have fostered more.
I have no life, no money, my house smells like dog, the grass is dead, the furniture is dirty, my bed is crowded, my friends have quit coming for dinner because the food is full of dog hair,,,,,,,,,,,and I wouldn't have it any other way.

That's just like ours. Cats, dogs a zoo, some of our friends call it. I don't know what it would be like if we didn't have it this way...pretty quiet and dull. #4_1_213#

I would love to foster. Always have. But te center I work at doesn't do a fostering scheme, they used to but it got too complicated with fosterers wanting to keep the dogs and the center not thinking it would be the right perminent home for them etc

Your a good man CW. I agree fostering is hard, but it's important to stay focused. Every pup that leaves leaves a little piece of them with me. They will always be forever in my heart. Nan from GT had put together a beautiful tribute to fostering. It's a video and a song from Phil Collins - "You'll Be in My Heart". Come stop your crying it will be alright..just take my hand and hold it tight...I will protect you from all around you...I will be here...don't you cry...for one so small you seem so strong....my arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm..this bond between us can't be broken..I will be here don't you cry...cause you'll be in my heart, yes, you'll be in my heart...from this day on now and forever more you'll be in my heart... It truly is a labor of love.

People will stop me and ask if whippets or greyhounds shed. I always say they do but not much, which is true if you only have one or two and your house is carpeted. But if you have 10 and hardwood floors.... you'll swear you live with a shedding machine!! :o

Yes, it seems like I am mopping the floor every other day. We have 3 long haired cats and boy do they shed. Our greys don't too much. Also, after I have mopped, a few minutes later...hmmm..where did that mound of fur come from, I just mopped. Darn cats. :o

I love to foster but it's so hard to let them go. And the dust bunnies around here chase the dogs around! Hair... I've always said I'd rather pull a dog hair outta my mouth than a human hair, there's just somthing about pulling a loooong human hair outta my mouth that just makes me gag! #29_3_14# At least I know my dogs hair is clean! #grins#

When I fostered Sooner and he was getting adopted, I begrudgedly let him go even though I wanted to keep him with us. As he was leaving, I whispered in his ear, "If you don't like it there, bite somebody." Little did I know he would take this to heart. About 3 months later I got a phone call from our foster coordinator that Sooner was getting returned and would I foster him again? I asked the reason he was getting returned and it was for biting the new owner's son (he was 19). Once he came back I figured it was fate and adopted him a few days later ;D
