He beat some fast dogs too! He went wire-to-wire in all three heats for 2pts towards his OTR title. I'll add an action shot as soon as I get one. But here he is before the races. He knew why we were at the track!

All learned through his racing career. :-[ Then how do you explain the whippets success? I think running for a sighthound is instict mostly. With Kent I add daily runs on the beach along with rabbit/squirrel hunting to get one inspired, fast, well-trained runner.

to Kent on his win, but don't you think you are sending a bad message to new adoptors by running a sighthound off leash in an unfenced area? Please don't show these pictures at meet & greets. You could be putting lots of pets at risk, because people will think it is acceptable to do this.

don't you think you are sending a bad message to new adoptors by running a sighthound off leash in an unfenced area? No.For being involved with a group of people that kill thousands of dogs each year, don't you find it slightly hypocritical to to worry about the one I adopted? Why don't you go save the 1000+ greyhounds your buddies will kill in December alone?

J-
I love your pictures of Kent and your whippets running on the beach. You live in an area where you can do this. Most of us can't. Our guys run in our fenced yard and at the fenced ball field.
I think we all enjoy seeing the pictures.

I worry about each and every dog. If I see something that I think some one not as knowledgable as you might do, I do say something. I used hear potential adoptors talk about doing exacty what you are doing and gringe because I knew that meant one more dog that we would have to scrape off the highway. And their answer is always, "well so and so does it all the time and nothing bad happens." I just wanted you to be aware of the message you are sending by letting your dog run loose.

At meet and greats and in my work with WRAP my message is to keep them always on a leash or in a fenced area.
