This has been one of the worst days in my life. Lexi almost killed my cat. Toby was lying peacefully on the kithen floor getting the rays form the sun and Lexi walked into the kithen and grabbed him by his and was thrashing him around like a rag doll, I screamed and took a mag. and hit Lexi to let go of Toby. Toby's fur was every where and he ran down the steps. I took Toby to my Vet and hes has several deep cuts and bursing to the neck and chest area, thank heaven his neck didn't break or an artery wasn't cut or a lung puntured. I feel horrible I had to give her back to greyhound welfare, I really tried and my heart is broken because I love my cat and I loved Lexi. I had no chose. I'm reallly going to miss her but I need to take care of my cat, and I can't but Toby thur that again. I just wanted to be the best mom. She is going back with her orginal foster dad who does love her. I'm so sad.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I've seen it happen before, my Heidi got ahold of a stray in a field. YOu did the right thing. Please, don't be hard on yourself. Is your adoption group going to help you get another greyhound?

I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out. Some greyhounds just can't live with cats. I have two of them. Don't give up, there are many members here who have cats and they get along famously.

Oh Patricia...I'm so sorry. Thank God your kitty is alright. How traumatic for both you and Toby. Please don't feel bad, you did the right thing. And don't give up on finding that right greyhound for you...trust me there are plenty of "small animal tolerate" greys out there. I just fostered an extremely sweet brindle boy and when my Bella would walk into the back room she'd sit in front of the crate and stare at Frankie....Bella is such a B. Frankie would start whimpering and would push himself as far back in the crate as possible. I had to chase her away from Frankie. Give Toby a gentle from me and I hope he's feeling better real soon.

I'm so sorry to hear you, your cat and even Lexi had to experience this. Thank God you were there to save kitty. Kent caught the neighbor's cat once and I was there to save it so I know better now. I'm not sure you or kitty will ever be up to trying again but there are plenty of greyhounds thatr don't look at indoor kitties as food. Here's one that just was saved from death in Alabama. See kitty in the background? I tried to show this to Kent so he'd be nicer but he wasn't having any part of it.

My first greyhound, Chance, was a big, beautiful red fawn boy....they have the most angelic faces! Kitty's cute too!

Dont be too hard on yourself, Lexi was just not the right hound for your family. The right dog is out there somewhere if you still want to try. Toby is your baby and lived with you before Lexi, you have to think of him and thank god he is . My grey girl killed a cat a couple of months ago. He wasnt mine but the whole thing was terribly traumatic. How much worse if it had been my own cat. You've done the right thing. Sending hugs to you and Toby.
