I was heartbroken after hearing this true story. Last summer a family was enjoying a family get togther in a park in W. Va. The adults were talking, eating and enjoying the afternoon and the children, well, were being children, playing, and digging for worms. The kids kept coming back to the tables telling their parents they were finding all these worms, but, the worms were biting them. The adults were saying , just be careful, when one parent stated,"What do you mean the worms are biting you." At that moment one of the kids starting screaming, he fell, and is not moving. The six year old boy, Zack, was in cardiac arrest. 911 was called and the parents started CPR. The child was taken to the area hospital, when he arrived, the ER Team went to work on him, while cutting off his shirt and pants, a handful of baby rattlesnakes fell out of his pockets. Zack did not make it. The children thought they were digging for worms, but, instead, were finding the baby rattlers. The other children were treated for snake bites and are fine. Its is that time again for family outings and enjoying the outdoors, please, keep an eye on your children and if they say something that does not sound right, please, check it out.

I agree. Mrs. Wildman told me this story, she had hear it from her daughter, Debbie, who lives outside of Morgantown, W Va. She said this happen very close to where they, Mr. and Mrs. Wildman, grew up outside of Glenville. I'll never forget what Ron told me what he did to his sister when they were little and visiting back home, he put a baby snake down the back of Debbie's shirt. Boy, did Mom Mom Rose give him a lecture and some. Thank goodness it was not a baby ratttler.

That is a terrible story. Overhere, snakebites are very rare, we hardly have snakes here and only one of them is dangerous if you happen to step on it.

Peet, you guys are lucky, here in Maryland we have Cooperheads, Rattlesnakes, and Water Maccoinions, sp? along with Black Snakes, and Gardern Snakes, speaking of gardening I need to go out and do some now, I don't want to see any snakes!! I know some folks who have told me that their cats bring snakes in their houses, I would just die!!
