Greyhounds that attacked may be euthanized Monday, Apr. 24, 2006 Laconia police are investigating whether to euthanize two greyhound dogs after they attacked and killed a smaller dog Saturday afternoon. Police said the greyhounds also bit the owner of the killed dog, forcing the 60-year-old woman to get several stitches to her hand. The attack took place about 4 p.m. on Davidson Drive in South Down Shores, a private gated community located on Route 106. The owners live in the community, said police, who would not release their names. A woman was walking her two greyhounds when they spotted the smaller dog and were able to break away, police said. "It appears it was just an unfortunate accident," said Sgt. Chris Adams, who added police haven't determined whether the greyhounds should be put down. "We're going to look into the history to determine if this has happened before," Adams said. The greyhounds, which each weigh about 60 pounds, bit the other 7-pound dog in its head and stomach, fatally wounding it. Police said in the confusion, the two women did not exchange information. Yesterday, the greyhounds' owners came to the police department to report the attack, which they may not have realized was so serious, Adams said. No charges are planned, he said. www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=Greyhounds+that+attacked+may+be+euthanized&articleId=dedacbca-a170-47ab-942c-ff64c372a5c3
