 This is it!! THE AUCTION HAS BEGUN!!! FOLLOW THIS LINK TO THE AUCTION!For those of you who have missed the start-up of this wonderful project, here's a brief overview: 1. Too many of our hounds are lost to cancer. 2. The sighthound community has an abundance of creative, talented people, and boundless generosity. 3. Dr. Couto has a research project to find a cure. Out of these elements, our search for a new way to raise funds brought us to the idea for the Virtual Quilt, to celebrate our beloved hounds who have or had cancer. Everyone can participate, and there are various ways to do so. (For more details, visit our website! Create for a CURE!) All proceeds go to Hope for Hounds to support Dr Couto's efforts. You can be an ARTISTArtists design squares to be auctioned in periodic auctions. They can be either a design of the Artist's choosing, or the Winner's. Either way, the Winner recieves the original square after it is added to the Virtual Quilt. You can be a WinnerWinners bid on Squares in the auctions. In some cases, they get to choose the subject of the Square. You can be a Do It YourselferDesign your own Square, and submit it to the Quilt with a donation of any size, right from our website. You can buy a PosterAs the Quilt grows, new posters will be released. This is your chance to make the Virtual Quilt become a part of your own home (and help us raise more money for the hounds!) The Power of the Greyhound/Sighthound Community is truly an amazing thing. Together, we can Create for a CURE!! This project started on Greytalk, but has grown beyond that original idea already. I'm excited to see that people are understanding, and bidding, in this new project. It also excites me that folks are already sending me Squares for the NEXT auction! If this project fires your imagination or touches your heart, you can find a way to participate. We're even adding a new way! Soon, you'll be able to "Snuggle" with a Square already in the Quilt. If you see a Square that especially touches you, you will be able to donate in honor of that Square, and leave a note with it (if you wish) for all to read. In the mean time, there is this auction, our first! And, there is a lot of lovely, fun, and cute artwork you can still have for a song!

I wish we didn't have a need for this, but having lost my first greyhound, Chance, to osteo at the tender age of 5 I think this is an awesome idea!! Let's make cancer a thing of the past....off to read more about it!! Thank you for sharing this with us. :)

Whoo hoo!! We are so thrilled! Our first auction is over, and we raised ...
$1166 towards cancer research!!
Look for our next auction, or go look on the site for ways to jump in before that! You can even do a DIY square any time!
