Hi Linda and welcome. I have a question for you, I have a 2 year old grey for about a month now and a 8.5 year old male cat, who has been the attraction from day one. The cat still growls and hisses at the dog and stays in one place all day. What is the best way to get the cat not to fear the dog? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

...hmmm, how does your grey react when your kitty growls and hisses? Cats are naturally very territorial so it's understandable that he's not happy having to share his domain especially if he's been an only "child" for that long. It's like bringing home a new baby. What I do is make it a point to give extra attention to my cats and when it comes time for feeding my kitties get fed first. It's still new for them both being that you've only had your greyhound for a month....give him time. They may end up being the best of buddies and even if not, they should learn to coincide. Good Luck!!!

Linda, thanks for the advice my grey turns her head and looks down at the floor and then walks out of the room. I give Toby alot of attention, and he sleeps with me at night. He does not run as much when he sees Lexi, only when she barks. He does stare at her, well, we will see what happens, I just want them to be friends, because I love them both and so happy to have both of them, the are so special.

Oh, I hear ya. That's good that your new grey ignores him. Like I said....they both need time to adjust. They'll be fine...you sound like a very loving, patient Mom. Hang in there...and hey, congratulations on your adoption of your girl Lexi.

I was so pleased last night, while I was doing my cardio 70 minutes, I have a show next Saturday, the Maryland NPC Fitness and Bodybuilding show, Toby came out the back room and sat on the top step. Lexi didn't move or bark, when I finally finished and turned off the dance music, which they both seem to enjoy Toby laid in my hallway, I live in a rancher. This a.m. Toby's food bowel was just about empty, this made me feel good. He must have come back down during the night to finish eating. Oh by the way, both Tom (Dad2Paisley), and I are from New Jersey, we were born in Rahway Hospital and grew up in Clark, norther jersey. Our dad worked in New York for Domion Sugar.

...Glad to hear that both kitty and Lexi are doing better! I live in Ocean County in a town called Bayville. It's about 10 minutes So. of Toms River which is where I grew up.....so Clark is not that far. Small world..

Very small world, I was raised on LBI, literally born in Bayville, and bought my first car in Bayville (a 53 cadillac hearse - I know don't ask).
