Hi~
We have had our greyhound, Sebastian, for 4 months now and have been having problems with marking. The odd thing is that he only does it in my 2-year-old daughter's room and on her things. He also does it outside on the kids' toys and yesterday actually peed on the patio on some of their toys (I think it was that instead of marking b/c it was a lot)! I've tried a belly band, but he just wets through it. I'm home all day and take him out regularly.
Why is he doing this just on the kids' stuff and more importantly how do we get him to stop???
Thanks!

Hmmm, sounds like jealousy to me. What are his behaviors like otherwise? Is he every pushy with the kids, etc.? Any other animals in the house?

He's very tolerant of the kids for the most part. We have another greyhound as well. He is definitely dominant over her.
Thanks

I agree, it may be jealous thing or Sebastian wants to be top dog. I would call your vet and tell them what is happening. They may have some suggestions too. Good luck and keep us posted.

I'm more inclined to think he thinks it is to use her room as his bathroom. Get a belly band and keep her door closed for a while. He'll figure it out.

If I were you I would just keep your daughters bedroom door shut. I don't think it's a jelously issue, maybe because your daughter brings a lot of new smells into there each day. I no a lot of dogs that pee on toys, he doesn't realise they're your daughters and thinks they're his own, so marks them. Make sure you keep his and her toys very seperate and maybe have a box outside for your daughter's toys once she's finnished playing with them?

How old is he? And how long has he been altered?

On a side note. Our puppy Lincoln pees outside sometimes on the dog toy he carries out with him and he has gotten better with peeing in the house. But when he did this, he would pee on the toys nearby.

Thanks, everyone. We have started keeping her door shut, but sometimes she'll leave it open before I catch it, and he'll go in there.
He is 2 yrs. old. I'm not sure when he was altered but probably not very long ago.
Thanks again!
