Okay so my boy doesn't want to walk nice. His foster said just give him a quick jerk when he's pulling and he'll stop. But that has not been the case for me. Wondering if anyone hads any ideas. I have tried stopping everytime he does it,saying no, the quick jerk. Nothing seems to work. And on a totally different note I can't figure out how to post photos from my desktop on here. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Have you tried turning and walking in the other direction when he pulls? Other than that all I can suggest is a harness or halti

, this has been a HUGE problem for us with Loki (non-grey). We tried EVERYTHING....we went through obedience class, we tried all of their advice, treats, planting our feet firmly every time he pulled, giving the quick jerk of the leash....there is nothing we didn't try. NOTHING worked, Loki is a HUGE puller, not surprisingly, I suppose, given his sled-dog heritage. Guess what? We found something that completely works! It is a "Gentle Leader Easy-Walk Harness" www.pawmark.com/en-us/dept_36.html This is not the halter that goes over the head...it is a harness. We tried it on him and it was like magic! Also, it does not seem to be uncomfortable or distracting to him, which is how I noticed the head-halters can affect dogs sometimes. Good luck! Most importantly, do not walk a puller when you're feeling frustrated/impatient/had a rough day!

I've broken many a dog of doing this with a simple snap of the wrist and a loud "no pull" but whippets are really easy to train.
I will admit there is one dog that I cannot train this out of. But it is dad's dog so I don't worry myself about it.

thanks....I have been trying putting his leash behind my back so he has my whole body weight to try to drag. it works a little...however I found out he doesnt pull his dad anymore with the same tecnique. I will try the harness if there isn't a big change soon. I just want him to walk next to me and not go crazy everytime he sees a squirrel or cat. At 87 lbs I my arm can't take much more.

Just wanted to say that I got a harness and it has completely solved the problem. The instant I put it on him it was like another dog altogether. He walks nice, rarely even trys to pull at it. Thanks for the suggestion. It makes walking so much more enjoyable.
