Since two weeks we are giving Tommy Glucosamine. The human kind because I don't want to pay for our vets second home in France He gets 500mg a day now, is that a good dosage?

We give our Zues and Suzy 1000mg powder mixed of glucosamine in with there food once a day. We really noticed a big difference since we have been giving them this every day. We also give Zeus, Suzy and Milky 2 fresh factors each day as well. We order our glucosamine from Claudia at greyhound gang. www.greyhoundgang.com/

My Bones is 11 years old as you know Petra, he gets 1000g with his evening meal, and it does him the world of good. I am lucky my Mum in the US sends it to me so I dont have to pay higly inflated UK prices. Due to him having a long airline flight ahead of him, 2 weeks before the fligh I will increase to 1000g twice a day, so he will feel a bit looser while couped up in his flight crate, but it will only be a temp dose.

I get ours from Greyhound Gang also. 100 percent pure and the price is unbeatable. There are a lot of other good offers on supplements too.

I gave it to JJ(14) and didn't notice a difference in his movement or energy, but he's put on some weight and I'm thinking about getting him back on it. He's stopped running on the beack and just sits and watches. Maybe he is sore?
Question: I've read the liquid form is more easily absorbed than the powder. What do you think of liquid vs powder. What should the initial does be? (He's 35 lbs). Should I spike it then bring it back?

Tori is 9 and just slightly drags her back nails when she walks, vet put her on 750 a day *human form* and now another grey person told me it might not help as her hound does the same thing and its nerve damage, not joint?? Any comments??

Any comments?? Both nerve and joint damage can cause this. It certainly won't hurt to try her on it. Another good product is MSM, it builds up in their system much faster than glucosamine and/or chondroitin. Some use it alone, but a lot of people just add it to the gluc/chon. It's a synthetic sulpher and it enables cartilege and muscle to repair faster and maintain health better.

Where can I find this and what dosage do you use?? You can get it from any vet supply place or most farm supply stores, they use it for horses too and it's cheaper than the human stuff. We usually use the powder rather than pills and just dump it in their food. That doesn't work so well if you feed dry kibble. The dosages are usually right on the bottle. The stuff we use measures out to 1500 mg per 1/2 tsp.

K gets 2100 mg of MSM and 1600mg of glucosomine as per the dosage instructions from Greyhound Gang. He's 11.5 yrs old and has plenty of 'get up and go' for an old man.

We have always used a joint pill from Omaha Vaccine. Very good prices and the ingredients seem well balanced.
I discussed this with our vet during the last visit to have her confirm the ingredients. Basically her advice was to use Cosequim. It is more expensive but the only one which is routinely inspected by a government agency to verify that all listed components are included. You are paying for this service.
It is not to say that over the counter supplements are not good but there is no way to tell if every ingredient is included as listed on the package. Not sure if it has ever made a difference but I started it as a supplement a couple years back to keep him limber.
