Plus, if you are outside during the evening look up. That reddish star you see towards the south is not a star at all. It is Mars. At the end of July Mars was closer to Earth than its been since 2003 and it won't be this close again till 2035.

I always thought Mars was a star. Our sun would be a star, but not the planets. Stars generate their own light by burning gasses usually hydrogen and helium. Planets only reflect the sunlight that hits it, as does the moon.
