Misty seems to be adjusting well to retirement and home life. She enjoys her walks and meeting the neighbors, esp. the men. :o For the past several nights she has been whinning so I would go in the study and sleep on the sofa, last night she did sleep most of the night alone and started to whine around 5 am. I have to get her up by 7 in the morning to take out for her am routine, you guys know what I mean. :o She is eating two meals a day with no problems and she seems to enjoy her teeth brushing in the am, she does better with it than Toby. She still cries when I leave the room to go downstairs or outside to do yard work, lately though when I leave the house she seems not to be crying as long and when I come home she is quite until I open the door. My cat is dealing with her, yesterday, he sat on the sofa all day keeping her company, I had to buy him a toy for being a "good older brother cat". :o Toby is eating well, using the litter pan and not hiding under the beds from her, not like the last time. He still will run and take cover when she starts to bark, but with time I think Toby will adjust, he does like to watch her, not sure what she is , he probably thinks she is a funny looking cat! :o She has her well check tommorrow morning with Dr. Benson and I'm sure she will do fine. Keep everyone posted.

Misty seems like a great companion and settling in pretty darn good. Yes, I wish I had a 7:00am routine. Mine starts at 5:00am with my two hounds. ::)

Hi Patricia, I wanted to say on your new pup, can't wait to meet her. She is just too cute. Just a bit of advice (I haven't read through the enitre posts of replies so forgive me if I am repeating anything). As far as the whinning and barking go be sure to ignore her, remember if you give her attention during this she will associate making noise to get attention and it will be even harder to break her of the habbit. As far a you sleeping on the sofa in the same room with her be very very careful of making that a habbit, she will be come used to it and when you stop it can create more issues. The whole idea is to prevent any seperation anxiety issues up front. Good Luck and ! Karen

She is doing much better, the past two nights she has been sleeping outside my bedroom and when she starts to whine, I call her, pat her head and she then settles down. I am igorning her cries and she does stop, I think its just an adjustment phase. She was use to all the other greys and now she shares a home with just me and my cat.
