What is your favorite animal movie? I have several, Homeward Bound, Spirit, Brother Bear and for a good laugh Charlie, bases on a true story. The movies,Spirit and Brother Bear just bring the tears rolling down my cheeks every time I watch them. It seems that these "children movies", are really great teaching movies for kids and adults. well its going to be a cold weekend and I'll be waching my favorite movies. Come on Spring!!!

Milo and Otis, Balto, Homeward Bound. I loved that movie!! I cry everytime they show the scene where the old dog falls in that hole and tells the other 2 to go on without him. The ending is just awesome. :)

I loved Lady and the Tramp as a kid, but there is a new movie coming out called "8 Below" involving a team of sled dogs that had to be left behind and fend for themselves....I have a feeling that's going to be my new fave!

Speaking of the iditarod....what's everyone's view on that? I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I've heard some horror stories with these beautiful pups. I don't know if I'm crazy about them being tied up outside most of their lifes with a big chain on the end. I know they do enjoy the "race", but what happens to them after their done?

The dogs in the iditarod are the owners dogs so they live with them their whole life. They show the race on Outdoor Network. It's cool to see.

I don't know that I'd call it a favorite, but I did just watch The Mighty Celt last night. About a boy and greyhound racing in Ireland. It certainly was not an all "feel good" type movie but I loved seeing the hounds.

Thx all...
Regarding the Iditarod and other races... various Siberian Husky rescue groups I have researched have older sibes for adoption and I did notice that some of them say, "Sparky has never lived in a house before so he will need to learn...blah blah blah." Not sure if this is "the norm" for sleddogs, certainly there are not as many in need of homes as greys... this may be because they can pull a sled for much longer than a grey can run races.
