Loki had a long walk and a trip to Petco where he got a new bone! He carried it up to the register himself and everything, it was SO precious! Now that was an exhausting trip! This pic shows his color really well...he used to be gray/white/black, but since snowfall he has developed red and cream splotches!!! I didn't know he was gonna change colors!

Maybe he's like a "Mood Dog" and when it snows he's more in his element!

He is just a beautiful dog, how big will he get? He's not getting any bigger, he's about 68 lbs. He has a pinkish spot on his normally black nose now, too. From my research, it's called a "snow nose" and common in huskies. Funny, I guess his winter coat is just different from his summer one! It's pretty though, the reddish hues. :)

So sweet, so, how does he get along with the cat(s)? I adopted a grey back in the fall and I had to return her, she decided to use my cat as a rag toy. My cat is fine, but I was in shock, the adopation group told me she was cat safe, noo she wasn't, everything turned out well, my cat is alive and fine, scared of dogs now, and Lexi has a new loving family. I would love a dog again, but I don't know how to get Toby over his fear, something to work on any ideas?

I would love a dog again, but I don't know how to get Toby over his fear, something to work on any ideas? Wow, your story sounds EXACTLY like mine. I too adopted a "cat safe" grey that attacked my cat and had to give him back. Well, first of all, Loki's family that gave him up had allegedly had 2 cats, so he was "cat-safe" according to the pound. But my hubby and I weren't taking ANY more chances. We used baby gates; you can look at my post under the "Training" section to see exactly how. We took it REALLY slowly...cats take a long time to adjust. We made sure the cats ALWAYS had the basement where the dog NEVER went. Of course, now it's been 3 months and everyone is used to each other, so the baby gates are open for the most part. We still use them to keep the cats out of the kitchen (where Loki is crated) while we're not home. The BEST thing is that we have the basement baby gate about 6 inches off the ground (our basement is finished) so the cats always have their escape route. We still supervise them very carefully, but for the cats it seemed that they just needed LOTS of time to smell/hear the dog without having to actually interact with him.

Thanks for the advice, when its a little warmer here, like Spring time, Tom and Trish will start to bring Milky over so Toby can get use to a dog again. Milky is a good dog to adjust to. Last year Milky and Toby did o.k. Lets keep our fingers crossed!
