Drugs discovered during routine traffic stop in Jessup last night By a baltimoresun.com staff reporter Originally published June 15, 2006, 11:42 AM EDT Howard County police seized more than 400 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop last night in Jessup, authorities said today in a release.
A news conference was scheduled for this afternoon.
Chester Griffiths, 43, of Baltimore was charged with possession with intent to distribute a large amount of narcotics after the drugs and several thousand dollars were discovered in his vehicle, authorities said.
The seized narcotics are valued at approximately $500,000.
Griffiths was pulled over just before midnight and placed under arrest for driving on a suspended license and suspended registration, police said. The arresting officer detected a strong odor of marijuana during the stop and found the drugs during a search of the vehicle, according to authorities.
Griffiths is being held at a central booking facility in Jessup.
It's continuing to get bad here in the county.
