The Hare and the Tortoise
Haretown and Tortoiseville are 84 miles apart. A hare travels at 9 miles per hour from Haretown to Tortoiseville, while a tortoise travels at 3 miles per hour from Tortoiseville to Haretown.
If both set out at the same time, how many miles will the hare have to travel before meeting the tortoise en route?

It will take 7 hours for them to meet.
combined speed of both animals is 12 mph . divide 84 by 12 & you come up with 7 . check your math by (tortoise) 3 mph X 7 hrs. = 21 miles. add that to (hare) 9 mph X 7 hrs = 63 miles . total ts 84 miles .
