OZZIE GOES FOR #27 SATURDAY AFTERNOON IN THE ROONEY’S PUBLIC HOUSE CLASSIC
COULD THIS BE THE END OF THE STREAK?
West Palm Beach, Fl. - Ozzie The Man’s metal will be tested this Saturday afternoon as he faces perhaps his toughest field yet in Saturday afternoon’s running of the Rooney’s Public House Classic at Palm Beach Kennel Club.
For the first time since the streak started back on October 30, 2005, Ozzie drew into a spot that could bring to a screeching halt to his march towards the world record.
Saturday afternoon Oz will break from the two box. Good enough, he likes to run the inside.
However, wearing the red blanket of post one will be inside early speedster Demon Fire (Pat Collins Kennel) who out broke Ozzie in their last meeting this past Wednesday.
Okay, cool, Ozzie still won the race. What’s the big deal?
Now let’s now add in to the equation the #3 greyhound Kebo Klink (Rader Racing), a nice pup with a strong rush to the first turn who also likes the inside. This is their first time meeting in competition and besides Ozzie has a year’s more racing experience under his blanket.
Sounds good to me.
This is the Rooney’s Public House Classic so the greyhound sporting the green four blanket must be the lucky for someone. B & B Racing’s Shall We See, a seasoned veteran with stake race experience and last season’s co-track champion, has a little pesky habit of breaking sharply from the starting box and diving for the inside.
Uh Oh! Starting to get the picture?
And don’t forget the five greyhound JD’s He’s My Boy (DW Kennel), another inside runner with a powerful rush to the first turn.
Taking each of these greyhounds talents and putting them in different post positions, Ozzie would probably be showing them his backside by the time they reach the first turn, but collectively, this does shape up as perhaps one of the defining moments that will determine if the Wizard of Palm Beach goes all the way to breaking the World Win Streak Record of 37.
After looking over the race, owner Tony Morris said, “As I see it everybody in this race has a tough spot....except the two dog, Ozzie The Man. Just give him a little room and he’ll win the race. A lot depends on what the four dog (Shall We See) does. She’s the only trouble maker I see in the race. If she goes right to the rail, then we’ll have to go to the outside and go around her. I’m pretty confident about this race.” Added his wife Dottie, “I think the two box is fine for him. That use to be his father’s favorite box (Stan’s Boy Flyer).
Post time for the first race Saturday afternoon is 12:40 p.m.
