Suzy has been scratcing her ears lately. Trish has been cleaning them and finding alot of yucky stuff in there. What should we do? Should we call the vet?

Is she just getting wax out? Marx seems to have more was build up then Lily does, scratches and shakes his head when his ears are bothering him then I'll check them and try to give him a good cleaning. I would suggest that as long as Trish is getting the yulky stuff out upon cleaning Suzy should be , but if it get's to a point where Suzy really resists having her ears touched you may want to call the vet, or you could try the over the counter ear cleaning stuff PetSmart sells (if you do that don't get the stuff that has the bottle of ear wash a bottle of powder, I've used it and it doesn't work very well). Poor Suzy, she just can't win can she. Karen

Nope, Suzy can't win. ??? She doesn't mind having her ears cleaned. But she usually doesn't have very much dirt in her ears when I clean every vew weeks and I've cleaned her ears almost every other day for the last 2 weeks. And she's rubbing her ears on the sofa. At first I thought it was her eye she was rubbing but then I noticed it was her ears. She's so used to having things done to her that I'm not sure she would react if they hurt unless they REALLY hurt.

We think it now might be ear mites. We have a 5:20 vet appointment today. Wish us luck. Yes, poor Suzy always has something.

We took Suzy to the vet. She had lot of gunk in her ears. It's not ear mites. Just a little infection. She will be having drops put in her ear 2 time a day. She was so good at the vet so we stopped at Petsmart and got her some doggie treats.
