CHICAGO (Reuters) - Movie critic Roger Ebert was in serious condition at a Chicago hospital on Sunday following an emergency operation to repair complications from an earlier cancer surgery, the Chicago Sun-Times said on its Web site.
Ebert, 64, is a film critic for the Sun-Times newspaper and co-host of television's "Ebert & Roeper," a movie review show.
Richard Roeper, co-host of the TV show, said in the story that Ebert's vital signs appeared to be good after the operation.
On June 16, Ebert, a Pulitzer Prize winner, had surgery to remove a cancerous growth on his salivary gland. About 8 p.m. on Saturday, a blood vessel burst near the site of the operation, the Web site said.
Previously, Ebert has had four cancer surgeries, including two on his salivary gland in 2003, the story said.
Get well soon.
