I love music, I love to dance. With the music awards coming up, the Grammys, I think, I can't keep it straight, between movies, shows, actors to much to remember. Well, I like Hip Hop, Jazz, R&B. The artists: Usher, Alicia Keys, Seal, Beynouce, Kelly Clarkson, Rob Thomas, U-2, but my all time, The Beatles. I think I have every "record" they recorded. My older brother and sister handed them down to me. Now that was Rock and Roll, never get tired of listening to them. ;D

I also have every Beatles album! My dad played them almost everyday when I was a kid. These days I listen to almost anything...well never ever country and rarely hip hop...I also have a lower tolerance for my DH's angry-hate music (alternative, industrial).

I love most all types of music and have it on all the time. Obviously I like the Grateful Dead and other jam bands. I guess the only kind of stuff I won't listen to is from people like Yanni! ;D :) ;D :)

Jam bands! I like Rusted Root and Phish a lot... of COURSE the Dead! :)
My favorite artist of all time is Harry Chapin... also a huge fan of Paul Simon, Tom Petty...I guess I like folky singers and classic rock. The Beatles, the Doors (though they're a little depressing) Pink Floyd, Janis.... :)
I love older music... but for modern stuff I think Alanis Morisette is pretty brilliant...plus she's marrying my boyfriend Ryan Reynolds!
The only kind of music I really can't stand is the kind where no one in the group is playing an instrument! This includes, techno, boy-bands, BritneyMariahJessica, etc. Also not a big r&b fan... unless you're talking about older r&b like the Temptations. None of this R.Kelly, Usher, Timberlake stuff.

I like the 50's music and 80's music. I don't like any of the rap, new age stuff.

Beatles, far and above anyone else. I have all the vinyls, and also CD's of everything that they put out themselves...ALSO have some great bootlegs of theirs, my favorite it one called "The Kinfauns Sessions", which is a recording of practice sessions they held at George's Kinfauns estate. "The Beatles - Naked" is a waste, to me...although I did buy it, because I heard it was so great, meh! Any boot I have is better than it. The Kinfauns Session blows it away.
After that, I love Aimee Mann, also Chet Baker, Diana Krall, Sheryl Crow, (early) Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Fiona Apple's newest, Kate Bush's newest, (old) James Taylor, Seal, and on and on....I'm a child of the 60's and 70's.
I love a lot of classic rock.
I also love(d) No Doubt, but I don't care for Gwen Stefani's solo stuff, she's getting too Hip-Hop for my taste. I also like The Cranberries a lot.
I like a lot of music but I cannot stand most Hip Hop or Rap.
Of country music I just like the classics, like Patsy Cline and of course the late great Johnny Cash.
The older I ge the more I like classic jazz, and I listen to a lot of Diana Krall, and Chet Baker, I mentioned those too. Very mellow, very simple arrangements. That's the kind of jazz I like.
Recently someone pointed out the me that I seemed to not listen to much of any male singer-songwriters...so I ordered some more music to listen to while I paint, I ordered
The Best of Cat Stevens The Best of James Taylor (I have all his early stuff, but it's on vinyl) The Best of Gordon Lightfoot (hey now! he was great!) The Best of Simon and Garfunkel
::)
I told my husband that I bought those and he laughed. I don't think he'll be wanting to listen to any of them! LOL, FINE! Then at least I'll be able to find the CD's when I want to hear them!

Billie: My favorite Beatles album was Rubber Soul.
Some early jam bands that I still listen to are: Hot Tuna John Mayall & the Bluesbrakers Big Brother & the Holding Company Moby Grape New Riders of the Purple Sage
Live performances were incredible jam sessions. Another fun band that toured with the Dead early on was the Flying Burrito Brothers.
Those were the days.

I don't think I have a favorite Beatles album, but it would be an early one, like "Help" or "Hard Days Night", if I did.
I used to like Harry Chapin a lot. I saw him in concert, in a very small venue, in the 70's. He was really good.
I listened to those CD's I mentioned yesterday while I was painting, I tend to prefer female singers though, in general. Towards the end of the workday I often put something more lively on.
Oh, and 80's music! I LOVED LOVED LOVE "The Cars." I thought they were great. I still have all their music. I mean, how could you not like "Let The Good Times Roll", for instance? Every time that song starts up...it's hard to sit still.

80's punk: GBH, Casualties, Discharge, Drongos For Europe, Sick on the Bus, Exploited, Assert, The Nags (local band)..... My parent use to HATE when I played Exploited over and over, all night long...I was a pretty angry, dark teenager.
