Ozzie goes for 16th straight Saturday
Like the Energizer Bunny Ozzie keeps going and going and going. The 2005 North American Win Champion rattled off his 15th consecutive victory Wednesday afternoon at Palm Beach Kennel Club.
Breaking from the six post position, Oz came out on top and rushed to the early lead, never looking back and winning by ten lengths. His running time of 29.21 seconds on the 545-yard Royal Palm Course ties his career best and places him in ninth place on the Kennel Club's All-Time Fastest Times list. The clocking was also his 30th consecutive under 30 seconds.
Racing fans wagered $56,981 on his event.
The victory was Ozzie's first of the New Year, 28th of the season and 59th of his career. His next appearance on the Palm Beach oval will be Saturday night (Jan. 7) as he takes part in round one qualifying for the $25,000 He's My Man Classic.
I love this dog. ;D

Photo from www.Greybase.comHe is 3rd on the PBKC consecutive win list behind Pat C Rendezvous with 36 wins during 1993-94 and Izz A Champ, who strung together 21 in 1971. He's a great draw for PBKC, but if his streak ends anytime soon I'd think he'd fade pretty fast in dogdom. Seriously, being a PBKC champ is nice, but not spectacular. If he does 30+ in a row or if he'd race some big dogs AND win......then he'd secure his name in history.

I'm glad. I am pulling for Ozzie too. I don't know who owns him, who trains him, what kennel he runs in, nothing.
And maybe it's better that way!!!!! My "list" is so long it is hard for me to find a dog to root for these days!!!

Ozzie took #19 tonight. He's the big favorite when he runs and $2.00 bet gets you $2.80 back.

OZZIE THE MAN GOES FOR 20TH WIN IN A ROW SAT. AFT. 1/28/2006 You can be assured that a position along the gate at track side will be on a first-come first-serve basis as the nation’s 2005 National Win Champion takes to the Palm Beach Kennel Club oval Saturday afternoon in an attempt to win his 20th race in a row. The Wizard of Palm Beach, Oz will be breaking from the one post position and will be facing a slew of early speedsters in the sleek forms of CJ Special Trey, Brookside Brit and Fly Two Forks. The late-speed bombers in the event include Don L Mypalellen, Jawa Dennis, Cruzin Star and Craigie Fifi. A victory in Saturday afternoon’s tenth race would place Ozzie one win away from tying the legendary Izz A Champ’s 21-race Royal Palm Course win streak set in 1971. Ozzie is coming fresh off a big win in last Saturday evening’s $25,000 He’s My Man Classic. Post time for the first race Saturday matinee is 12:40 p.m. and for the tenth, 3:22 p.m. PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB ALL-TIME CONSECUTIVE WINS Pat C Rendezvous.....36.....(1993-94, World Record 3/8ths Mile Course) Izz A Champ.....21.....(1971, Palm Beach Kennel Club Record, Royal Palm Course) Ozzie The Man.....19.....(2005-06, Royal Palm Course) *reprinted from www.pbkennelclub.comwatch the race live here: www.pbkennelclub.com/LiveRacing.asp

OZZIE GETS #20....HAS IZZ A CHAMPS RECORD IN SIGHT 1/28/2006 He didn’t break as alertly as he usually does, but as usual Palm Beach Kennel Club’s and Palm Beach Counties newest celebrity Ozzie The Man took command at the first turn and raced to his 20th consecutive victory Saturday afternoon at Palm Beach Kennel Club. Breaking fourth from the one post, Ozzie had to earn the early lead but once he arrived on the backstretch, it was business as usual for last year’s National Win Champion as he won his “one score” by three and one-half lengths. Ozzie covered the 545-yard Royal Palm Course in 29.71 seconds, his 35th straight sub-30 second clocking, by far a kennel club record. The win brings Ozzie’s 2006 racing record to 6-6-0-0, his 2005-06 season record to 36-33-2-0-0 and his career record to 81-64-8-5-1. Ozzie is just one victory away from tying Izz A Champ’s Royal Palm Course win streak record of 21 set in 1971. Palm Beach Kennel Club’s Pat C Rendezvous owns the World Record for consecutive wins on the 3/8ths Mile Course at 36 in 1994.

Horrible break from the box. Had he started from an outside box he would not have gotten the rail and the clear sailing that provided. That #2 dog gave him lead without a fight at the first turn too.

OZZIE OUT TO SET NEW PBKC RECORD WEDNESDAY
The most talked about greyhound in the nation, Cahill & O’Connor Kennel’s Ozzie The Man, will go for his 22nd consecutive victory Wednesday afternoon at Palm Beach Kennel Club. A win by Oz would set a new consecutive win record on the 545-yard Royal Palm Course. Currently Ozzie is tied with 21 straight wins along with Dorothy Roban’s legendary Izz A Champ, whose streak and match race with arch-rival Madison Joker have become a permanent part of Palm Beach Kennel Club lore. The Wizard of Palm Beach, who will be breaking from the two post, will take on the strong-racing JB’s Express Pay (JB Junior B - Tempo Laser, Rader Racing) who finished second behind Ozzie in last month’s $25,000 He’s My Man Classic final. Also out to end the streak will be Tru-Paws Kennel’s SAS Sno Mobiling (Castor Troy - Rooftop Venny) who will be going for her fourth consecutive Grade “A” win. Ozzie will be competing in Wednesday afternoon’s tenth race. Gates open at 11:00 a.m. and post time for the first race is 12:40 p.m.

The race was over before the dogs even reached the rail.
OZZIE WINS #22...NEW ROYAL PALM WIN STREAK RECORD 2/8/2006 History was made Wednesday afternoon at Palm Beach Kennel Club as Ozzie The Man won his 22nd consecutive race, giving him the All-Time Palm Beach win streak record on the 545-yard Royal Palm Course. Wearing the blue blanket of post two, The Wizard of Palm Beach broke on top and made quick work of the opposition winning by six lengths in a time of 29.34 seconds, surpassing the record of Dorothy Roban’s legendary Izz A Champ set back in 1971. The 29.34 clocking was Ozzie’s 37th consecutive sub 30-second Royal Palm Course time, by far a Kennel Club record. Palm Beach Kennel Club’s Pat C Rendezvous possesses the World Win Streak Record for the 3/8ths Mile Course of 36 set in 1993-94. The overall World Consecutive Win Streak record belongs to JJ Doc Richard at 37 established in 1995. The victory ties Ozzie The Man for twelfth place on the World All-Time Consecutive Win List. Ozzie’s next step towards the history books and his 23rd consecutive win will most likely be during this Saturday’s matinee or evening performance.
