I am really becoming a believer that cats have nine lives! Toby went for his follow-up appt. yesterday and is healing very well, the vet is very pleasesd. My vet told me that Toby does have asthma and is starting medication today, drops that go in the ears twice a day. Also she discovered he suffers from hip dyplasia. She said its not uncommon for a large breed cat as himself, he is a maine coon, to be born with this diease. Either his parents had it or passes it along in the genes, just like large dogs. Its difficult to detect unless the cat shows signs os pain or is limping, in cats it is also seen in the some ones such as Siameses. With the medications he will be a different cat, he will be an 8 year old kitten, playing , running and jumping, since now he can breathe and walk without protecting his hips. He is on Arthrimaxx for cats which has Glucosamine and Chondroitin, in the medication. Well, if it wasn't for Lexi trying to "eat" Toby, I never would have known about these problems,so, something good did come out of a horrifing and painfully sad situation. Lexi is doing well and believe me I do miss her alot and wished it would have worked, but, she will be placed in a new home with a family that will love her.
