We brought home 3 greys this past May. Previous to these boys we were parents to my heart grey and bridge boy Tex. Tex was able to climb stairs within a week, 2 tops with no problems at all. Chevy, Murphy and Devin definitely do not find the stairs to be an easy task. We had tried all the methods that were successful on Tex but our new guys need more help. We have had these boys for 6 months and we still struggle with the stairs...they are coming along though, it won't be long now... It seems that our only problem now is that Chevy and Murphy want to take 2 steps and then jump the remaining 10!!! Murphy actually did jump once and ended up with 10 stitches - and yet he was soooo proud that he made it down on his own! :P Does anyone have any tips on how we can slow these boys down? #29_1_16#

Good luck! In Montana the bottom of the stairs go into a wall so Kent has to reach the bottom slowly. It never occured to me they would jump if the landing was wide open!!!!

Have you tried a leash? Leash walk them up and down. Or just take them by the collar and lead them up and down.

Mt two always seem to have a race for who gets up and down the stairs first. One of my guys always jumps the last three steps on the way down. I haven't figured out how to slow them down yet.

Try holding onto the collar and take one step at a time and praise them on each step.
