I know it is always stated 'Greyhounds should always be muzzled in public for safty' but how many hounds actually need these? My Lenny can be trusted with ANY animal except a wild rabbit (though he is okay with domestics). I can trust him totally off the lead. If he sees another dog he just stands there and won't move.....unless it's a small one like a Yorkie or something...then he runs a mile in the opposite direction! What about your dogs? Who "always stated" this? it's absurd, now, Pit Bulls, I agree, muzzle em, but greyhounds? Ridiculous. lol, aye, unless you are headed to a rabbit farm!

It is always stated in the dog books and info sites. And why muzzel Pit Bulls? They're lovley dogs! They are illigal over here but a friend of mine was given one, he lived with 3 and 4yr old kids, rabbits, hamsters, other dogs.....and he was so lovley, he even got a 6yr old kid over her absoloute terror of dogs in just half an hour. I have not met loads of Pit Bulls, but the ones I have have been lovley. I found one once (obviously escaped from a garden or something) and I walked over to it...as soon as he saw I had noticed him he dived at me and tried to lick me to death! (His owner was traced in the end). People get Pit Bulls and train them to be macho and fight...if you bring up a Pit Bull like you would any other dog they are amazing pets

We have a couple of pit bulls at the doggie day care and they actually behave better then the labs we have there.

Welll, whoever wrote those books, and those websites, was truly uninformed about greyhounds. Though, that's unfortunately not uncommon, it often only takes people about 30 days to become an expert in all things greyhound.
Pit bulls though, I'm sure you're right and they illegalized them because of their wonderful temperment. :o

They illegalized them to prevent dog fighting. Did you not know that?

I would suggest greyhoundlover that you actually go out and meet PitBulls before you judge them

Because people were training them to be agressive. You train any dog to be agressive and it will be! The coutless number of times I have been bitten by Jack Russells and no one has paid any attention...but as soon as a big dog does it everyone is like 'they're vicious' 'they should be banned' it makes me sick!

I agree Katey. We have several pit bulls at the doggie daycare I work at and they are the sweetest.

I have never muzzled Oreo, although we do own 3 muzzles (they were being sold as a set of 3 only). We did take one with us when we went to the Greyhound Festival last month just as a precaution because being a young boy like Oreo is, he tends to play a little rough. We had the muzzle in the car and that's where it stayed all afternoon! He's a wonderful boy, a little rambunctious sometimes, but a wonderful boy.
