Since I only live 15 minutes from Gettysburg, I left work earl to see the beginning of Gig 2006. Gettysburg is a very special place to me. I am lucky that I can walk the dogs there every weekend. Leaving my neighborhood for GIG. When you arrive in Gettysburg you go through town square. One of my favorite stops is the Pub on the square. LOL All of the streets are very pretty and full of shops. More to come.

Abraham Lincoln wrote his most famous speech in the room with the banner below it. A sculpture of him. Tourists are arriving so the sight seeing buses are running. Town is full of old buildings. This is a very good restuarant and Inn

Yes I am Petra and I will bore you all to death I am sure. LOL This is where all of the greyhound group will meet tonight for an outdoor party. It has been a tavern and Inn for 250 years. Off to the greyhound events. The vendors were setting up. The dogs were arriving. This is the shopping area where the vendors set up.

And to my surprise I ran into Tom, Trish and Patricia with all of their hounds. Milky and LIncoln resting. And I even asked Tom if I could have a picture with him to prove that I do exist. I will probably go back tomorrow when it is crowded to see if I can take some more.

Also know that Rani will never look like that since she gets really stressed out if she gets groomed. The result of 8 years of neglect. Doesn't matter though, she is funny short or long haired :o

Those are great pictures HD. We really like coming to Gettysburg every year. We have a great time here, lots to do, the battlefield tour, gig doing the ghost tours, and just visiting the different shops and restaurants.
Hope to see you tomorrow.

I went back to GIG early before it gets too crowded. It is another beautiful sunny day. Temperature about 67F, 19C and a slight breeze. I started with a quick tour of the battlefield to see if any dogs were out. I few were starting to walk the grounds. The campus of Gettysburg College is part of town and these buildings were used as hospitals during the battle. Some folks were beginning to take the hounds for a tour. There are miles and miles of these wooden picket fences throughout.

There are hundreds of monuments in the park. One little known one is from the New York Irish Brigade. On it is a loyal hound waiting for it's master to return. Some have argued that it is a greyhound but most believe it is a wolfhound.
