I am going to give up on posting in these threads. I look at the reality of what is going on and all I see is people wanting to fight about who is right and who is wrong. What gets lost in all of this is the dog, those that are in need now and those future generations because we are leaving it to the wind to blow away because a scapegoat needs to be identified. Maybe both sides need to get a grip on the reality of the day and leave their egos at the door. Racing is coming to an end in this country. You can hope all you want that there will be a resurgence of interest but it ain't going to happen. Instead of placing blame, all sides need to work towards a solution, what ever that may be, to protect the greyhound.

Nice post HD.
Can I add that racing would have more fans if it didn't use death as a management tool?

Rock:
Whippets are a new breed that has quite a race following that gets stronger every year. How healthy(or unhealthy) is this new breed whose gene pool is a puddle by comparison to the greyhound?

It's sort of telling, that in our own private Idaho of a reality "of what's going on", we don't happen to see the lives of people, their children and families, who will be disenfranchised, and perhaps unable to make a viable adjustment---- and that in this so-called reality of what's going on, no one seems to care one bit.

Rock. I grew up on the border of Pennsylvania and West Virginia and I saw every family I knew effected by the change in the coal mining and steel producing Industries so don't even begin to go there with me on that. People adapt to the changes that they are faced with. That was part of the beauty of the multi -cultural existence that I knew as a young person.

Since you asked....Whippets are 4th on the list of the 52 breeds studied by the OFA for congenital heart disease.
