I got the call and heard he wasn't pretty, but he just needed a home where he could live out his final days. I arranged a WUR from Atlanta and drove up to JAX last night to do the final leg. He's skinny and dirty, but hopefully will have many happy days on the beach with the rest of the family. His name is Clint and he is believed to be 13, although I've seen 16 year old whippets in better condition.

He is home. He is completely unadoptable for several reasons.
We'll get some weight on him and hopefully some muscles as well as some fat. The shaved rectangle on his back is where we had a tumor removed last week and surgery probably contributed to his skinny appearance.
As for what environment? A :'( one.

OMG...poor little man. That's awesome that you will care and love him and give him the best. I just want to put my arms around his tired, little frail body.

Grade 5 heart murmur, broken/missing teeth, bad liver and kidneys, wobbly on his feet..... Just typical old age symptoms so he he's pretty much where you'd expect him to be.
This morning he had a hard time standing up on the bed he was lying on, I'm hoping he is just a little weak and with nutrition he'll strengthen.... nothing sadener than a dog that cannot stand up with out help.
But yesterday in the yard he actually "ran" a step or two. Well, it was more of a skip I guess. If I could ever figure out how to load video on that video site you guys would see some cool stuff from the beach and I could show you Clint's gait too.
He appears very happy and well oriented so that's great.
