I don't mind at all, Ed! Thank you for the terrific post.
I've known Lindsey for 15 years. Watched her grow up and take this challenge on full throttle. She is a very grounded young woman ...not spoiled by her parents. She still has to mow the lawn, rake leaves....basic family chore things. She is a hard hard worker at anything she attempts.
This incident in her final run for the gold was shocking and unfortunate. But, she made a choice and now will live with the consequences. Something she fully accepts on her shoulders. I think she has handled this "media festival" with tremendous honesty and poise. She will continue to have my complete admiration. And....we will have a hero's reception for her upon her return home!!!

What did she do? Should I just tune into CNN?

It happened yesterday in the SBX....Lindsey was way out in front and went over the next to the last jump and did a little fancy move in mid-air. She lost her balance upon landing...and the next rider zoomed past her. Lindsey was able to finish second and win the silver. There was much controversy over whether she should have done "extra" move in mid-air....unnecessary as far as winning as they aren't graded for these kind of moves.

Ugh, am I the only one who HATES the fact that SNL isn't on tonight because of the Olympics? It wasn't on last week either. IMO, the Olympics should be optional television viewing for people who want to watch. A major network shouldn't cancel their entire lineup for weeks to show a bunch of sports that non-sports-fans may not want to watch.
I love my country, I really do. I just don't care whether my country has faster ice skaters than this other country.

Sibergrey, I understand your feelings and I respect your views, but, this is a once in a life time dream for our athelets and all the athelets around the world. These athelets have worked their lives for this moment in time, to make history. They have given so much up ,that we take for granted, to dedicate themselves to the sport they love and do so well in it. From my own personel experencies, I know how hard it is for me and my quest to do a National Show and qualify for the Fitness Olympics, nothing near the Olympics. Our favorite T.V. shows come on every week and yes I miss my regular shows, but this is the Olympics, a once in a life time dream, its the Superball of the world. Before you know it you will be able to watch your favorite shows, oh, by the way not all of us have cable. Hang in there its almost over. Like I said, I respect your views, this is just my feelings and yes I am a very competited person when it comes to sports. I love it, I have to win, its just a big part of me. Life will be back to "normal" soon.

That they should have the guts and diligence to go for their dreams is incredible, and they are fantastic athletes. I still don't want to watch it, though. The Superbowl is on one DAY, not several weeks in a row. Westminster, the "superbowl of dog shows" is on two days and it's not even on regular TV, just cable! No other sporting event monopolizes TV for weeks.... at least it's not on Fox, though! What would I do without American Idol! LOL I completely respect what you're saying as well, and I think the athletes are amazing people, I wish they could ALL win. I just don't want to watch it on TV.

You are so funny, American Idol, you are unable to watch American Idol, oh no, I feel for you, that is my favorite show, I would simply die. You are not alone on this subject, my sister is not into the Olympics, she says it makes her too cold to watch the different sports, in the snow and skating makes her very dizzy, she suffers from really bad vertigo, sometimes its so bad she can't get up in the am,but she is under doctor's care. I think one of the main problems with this years' Olympics is that no one really knows the athelets, not like in football, b-ball, and baseball and folks don't feel the connection, I don't know. it will be over next week, and than baseball oh when will it end!! for me I really enjoy the Summer Olympics more. Have a great day.
