I don't agree with horse racing either, it's the same situation
This is how I feel too.
Also on my disagree list are bullfighting, circuses, c0ckfighting, cosmetic testing, animal dissection in schools and those portable roadside carnival zoos.

I pretty much hate everything that exploits animals for human pleasure. Showing is okay as long as the animal is kept inside as a family pet and not shoved in a kennel down the bottom of the garden and only taken out to be clipped for shows, the only person it knows being it's handeler and not the owner itself

I just wish there was stricter guidelines and better control of the breeders and trainers. I realize they are not all bad, but I get really upset when I hear about the mistreatment of any of them.
Diana+, and Fur Kids: Katie and Dolly (AKA: The Menace To Society)and Aunt to Meggie.
Don't forget Pit Bull fights, I do agree with your list, the circuse tops my list. Zoos are I volunteer at our Maryland Zoo, and we do alot of education and teaching and the animals are treated very well. We believe that our Afarica elephant, Dolly may be pregant, we will know in a few weeks!!

I am against cosmetics being tested on animals. I'm definitely against fighting animals (birds, dogs, bulls, whatever), and I am against circuses too. I'm not against good zoos, not against horse racing at all, and not against using animals for MEDICAL research, which saves the lives of pets AND people- as long as it's not barbaric and inhumane. I'm DEFINITELY not against dissecting animals in school. I think it's awesome and educational! Of course it should be humane. We dissected cats in my school, and one dog. Being a lover of dogs and cats, this was a little hard in a way, but they were already PTS ANYWAY by a local shelter, so at least their bodies contributed to something, and their deaths were not a total waste. I loved seeing and learning about the workings of my favorite animals, but I was very sad that they were PTS.
We also dissected fetal pigs, earthworms, and of course frogs throughout the years. None of those bothered me in the slightest.

I used to be all for dissecting animals in schools, but I have since learned that there are computer simulations that are SO realistic that it is no longer necessary to dissect the real thing.
I suppose I could see it in upper-level veterinary schools, if the animals were already PTS for other reasons. But I don't see a need for high school or general-education college students to be dissecting animals. Computers are so advanced these days, it is not necessary.
and off topic - Sighthound Fan, that's a great pic of the Staffie w/ the little one.
It's a Pit Bull actually. But I agree, it's very cute. I'm very into the 'Deed Not Breed' thing, I do alot of work on it
Oops, sorry. American Pit Bull Terrier? I thought it was a Staffordshire because usually their jaws are wider and those jaws look pretty d**n wide!!!
That's wicked cool that you work with those dogs...someday I reaaallllyyy want a Staffordshire Bull Terrier...when I have $1500 to spend. That will be one dog I won't rescue as an adult, sadly. If/when we get one, I will buy it as a puppy from a reputable breeder known for temperament breeding.

You sure I can't temp you with a wonderfull pair of elderly staffords? Mother and son? They are in the rescue at the moment and it doesn't look good on the rehomeing front. The most lovley natured dogs. Bonnie and Lewis. Both brindle and white. Okay with dogs/cats. Love children...need I go on?
Rescues also get alot of Staffie pups in...I wouldn't rule out rescue
